When treatment for testicular cancer left Matt Fox questioning his ability to father children, the former tennis pro was shocked to learn his wife was pregnant, as seen on House of Wellness TV.

Matt Fox was a promising young tennis professional, until testicular cancer ended his career.

“The worst moment of my life was when I was 22,” he says. “I had just gotten back from Europe and I went to the doctor to get checked up on a lump that I had on my testicle.”

“I can remember walking out of the specialist’s room when he confirmed it [the cancer] and I think I did break down and cry for a few minutes.”

Following surgery and chemotherapy to treat the cancer, Matt’s thoughts turned to fatherhood and his ability to father children naturally.

“I was single at the time, so for potential future partners it was embarrassing to a degree to open up about,” he says.

When Matt and Vilda got married, they never expected to have a child. When the couple discovered they were pregnant it came as a surprise.

“I didn’t believe her to be honest,” Matt says. “I woke up the next morning and was shocked and a bit scared and had to ask her if she actually told me [she was pregnant] as I wasn’t 100 per cent sure if I was dreaming or that it was really true.”

The couple’s son is now 15 months old.

“I love being a father to Harley and setting a good example for him and playing with him,” Matt says.

Unable to stand being away from his young family, Matt started his own online personal training business.

“I’m training people from all over the world now online and showing them how to get fit without a gym… I love it.”
