House Heroes: Climbing Mount Everest in a wheelchair

After a tragic accident at just 17, Scott Doolan now plans to be the first paraplegic to make it to base camp, as seen on The House of Wellness TV.

At the age of just 17, Scott Doolan crashed his brother’s motorbike into an oncoming car.

He has been confined to a wheelchair ever since.

This year Scott, now an APEXGEN athlete, will be the first paraplegic to climb/wheel 18,192 feet to Mount Everest base camp with minimal assistance.

“To be the first paraplegic to wheel up Mount Everest Base Camp with limited assistance is going to mean the world to me,” Scott says.

“Physically it is going to be the biggest challenge of my life and I’m read to conquer it and hopefully inspire and motivate so many people out there to be able to show them that whatever you set your mind to you can achieve it,” he says.

“If I’m able to do it, I’ll be the first person.”
