Introducing The House of Wellness TV show with Ed Phillips and Zoe Marshall

A new weekly TV show aims to explore the world of health and wellbeing in a balanced and easy to understand format.

We all strive to live well but how do we go about actually achieving it?

Australia’s newest lifestyle program The House of Wellness, brought to you by Chemist Warehouse, aims to give their viewers those answers.

Hosted by seasoned presenter Ed Phillips and media personality Zoe Marshall, the hour-long weekly national program will make its debut on the Seven Network on August 27.

“The show aims to present informative, take-home health information that our viewers can apply to their everyday lives,” Ed says.

Each week the show will host a special guest, whether it be an expert or personality, who will stop by to share their tips and tricks for improved health and wellness.

I’m talking about breaking down health myths, dissecting the compound of vitamins, sharing personal health tips, you name it. – Ed Phillips

Boasting an entertaining, cross-platform format, The House of Wellness hopes to educate viewers while addressing their specific health concerns.

“We really wanted to connect with our viewers so they can chime in through social media and have their health questions answered by Gerald,” Zoe, 33, says.

She’s referring to Gerald Quigley, an established community pharmacist and herbalist who joins the co-hosts as a firm fixture on the show.

“Gerald is just an absolute treasure,” host Ed says. “He’s been in the business for so long and has a ridiculous level of expertise in the medical and holistic fields.”

Viewers will be able to submit their health queries through the program’s social media handles, which will be answered on-air.

“It gives our show some edge because no one’s really utilising social media like that on television at the moment, especially from a health perspective,” Ed, 51, says. “Plus, it enables us to build a relationship with our viewers from the very first episode.”

Fresh off the heels of a radio stint with husband and NRL star Benji Marshall, Zoe is looking forward to the show’s launch, which she considers a fresh challenge.

The House of Wellness came around at the perfect time since me and Benji have just wrapped up Meet the Marshalls,” Zoe says.

“Ed and Gerald have been so welcoming, which has made the transition back to television all the more smoother.”

This isn’t Ed or Gerald’s first time working with the flourishing The House of Wellness brand, both having appeared on the weekly national radio show of the same name.

“The big difference is we go beyond discussion,” Ed says. “I’m talking about breaking down health myths, dissecting the compound of vitamins, sharing personal health tips, you name it.”

While Zoe is recognised more readily as a media personality first and foremost, she also runs a popular blog where she gets refreshingly honest about difficult “taboo” subjects such as fertility, long-distance relationships, domestic violence and losing a loved one to cancer.

In Zoe’s case it was her beloved mother, Jan, who passed away from pancreatic cancer.

“I’m naturally an open person, so I don’t shy away from discussing the darker chapters I’ve faced in my life,” Zoe says. “If it helps reduce stigma, then all the more reason to be open about it.”

For Ed, working with two dynamic forces such as Zoe and Gerald makes his new gig all the more enjoyable. “We all bring something different to the table and balance each other out.”

“I remember I was coming down with a cold recently and Gerald prescribed me this crazy concoction that worked a treat,” Zoe adds. “It was at that moment I realised I have the upmost confidence Gerald will be able to help with any kind of health riddle that comes his way on the show.”

The House of Wellness starts August 27 at 10am on the Seven network and can be viewed online on our TV page each week after the show. To submit your health related question to Gerald, head to our Ask Gerald page.
