Chemist Warehouse supports bushfire relief fundraising

After weeks of extreme conditions across the country, Australia remains gripped by some of the most widespread, devastating bushfires in living memory. While our nation stands united in grief, we’re also extending our collective hands to the countless communities that have been impacted so far.

Chemist Warehouse has pledged its support and assistance to those affected by the bushfires, partnering with The Salvation Army.

“Sadly, Australia is facing one of the most devastating natural disasters in our history, and we as a member of the Australian business community and the community more broadly, wholeheartedly believe we should be doing our bit to help and support where we can,” says Mario Verrocchi, Chemist Warehouse Managing Director.

“We believe the best way for us to do so, is through supporting the vital work of The Salvation Army as they tirelessly strive to get these communities back on their feet.”

Among its commitments, the business giant is donating $250,000 worth of vouchers to people in affected communities, which will be distributed by the Salvos. Chemist Warehouse will also distribute more than $100,000 of products directly to relief centres.

The Salvation Army is committed to standing with fire-affected communities for months and years ahead until they get back on their feet.

Additionally, Chemist Warehouse will make a separate donation of $300,000 directly to The Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal.

Customers can also donate directly to The Salvation Army in store, with all donations going directly to the organisation so it can assist bushfire-affected communities and provide practical on the ground support services (currently tally is $625,662 at 10 Jan 2020).

“The Salvation Army is committed to standing with fire-affected communities for months and years ahead until they get back on their feet,” says The Salvation Army spokesman Major Bruce Harmer.

“We are so grateful for Chemist Warehouse partnering with us in support of local communities across Australia.”

The joint efforts of Chemist Warehouse and their customers is just one example of Australia’s shining community spirit, particularly in trying times.

“You may never meet the people you support by donating to our disaster appeal, but be assured 100 per cent of the funds raised will go directly to supporting fire affected communities. Thank you on their behalf for your generosity,” says Major Harmer.

Chemist Warehouse’s bushfire relief efforts will be discussed at length during this week’s segment of The House of Wellness Radio. The hour-long program is hosted on the Nine Media Network, live on air each Sunday at 8am AEST.
