‘We’re parents just trying to do the best we can’

When it comes to parenthood, Guy and Jules Sebastian say they are just like the rest of us.

Singer, songwriter and producer Guy, 39, and presenter, stylist, and author Jules, 41, stress that they are trying to figure out the parenting caper like any busy couple.

“We’re obviously parents just trying to navigate through life and do the best we can,” Guy says.

“Jules’ and my parents aren’t nearby, and we don’t have paid help or anything. We get the odd paid babysitter from time to time. We don’t really have that (family) help, we really wish we had.”

When Guy is touring, Jules runs a tight ship keeping sports-mad Hudson, 9, and Archer, 6, active.

But in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced Guy to take a break from travel and was able to spend more time with his family.

He says he appreciated the opportunity to enjoy more of the good parts – and some of the hard parts too, such as taking the boys out to play cricket when it was the last thing he felt like doing.

“At the start I was like, I’ve got not only my boys, but a couple of others there. I was so tired. I just didn’t want to do it,” he says.

“But fast forward an hour … I kept telling Jules, ‘You would’ve lost it if you’d seen Archie’. I was literally tearing up with pride watching him play with the bigger kids, they were bowling as fast as they could and he put in so much effort.

“Sometimes you do things that are a bit of a ‘punish’ but it ends up being a beautiful moment. Seeing Archie huffing and puffing and trying to bowl as fast as the other kids, I don’t think I’ll ever forget that afternoon.”

A helping hand for kids and parents

Both Guy and Jules have a huge year ahead. Guy will hit the road with his T.R.U.T.H. national tour in November and December, and is the only judge to have survived The Voice’s move to Channel 7.

Jules will be busy with the release of her Tea & Honesty book on March 30, a second round of interview series for Tea With Jules and feeding the demands of her social media community.

They also run The Sebastian Foundation, investing in programs that aim to help young Australians.

And now the busy couple, who married in 2008, have teamed up as paid brand ambassadors for Nature’s Way Kids Smart.

It is a partnership that ties in neatly with teaching their two sons about health and wellbeing.

“I think that, as well as a balanced diet, vitamins are a good habit for kids to get into,” Jules says.

“As they get older they understand that health is wealth. It’s great for our kids to learn that young. We explain to them that Vitamin C helps (relieve symptoms of) colds and flu, and what Omegas do inside their bodies, that sort of thing.”

Nature’s Way Kids Smart offers a range of products for all ages and needs, including gummies, chewable tablets, liquids and burstlets.

The Vita Gummies range includes Multivitamin and Vegies, Vitamin C and Immune Defence – and sugar-free Multivitamin, Vitamin C + Zinc and Probiotic options.

Perfect for busy parents like Guy and Jules – and the rest of us!
